Who runs this site

DoorSupervisorTests is an independent study-resource publisher. We are not a training provider, not an awarding body, and not affiliated with the Security Industry Authority (SIA). The site is part of a small family of free learning resources that includes Life in the UK Practice and Law Reporter, built on one idea: the information you need to start a career should not sit behind a paywall or an email gate.

Everything here — the 149 practice questions across 4 units and the full SIA licence guide — is free to use, with no signup and no credit card.

How our practice questions are written

Every question is written to match the knowledge units of the Level 2 Award for Working as a Door Supervisor — the door supervisor role, working within the private security industry, conflict management, and physical intervention and first aid — and grouped into a unit test for each, plus a full mock. Before a question is published we check it three ways:

• The fact is verified against a primary reference — the relevant legislation (such as the Private Security Industry Act 2001 and the Licensing Act 2003), SIA and GOV.UK guidance, and the awarding-body qualification specifications.
• Exactly one answer is defensibly correct, and the distractors come from real confusions — similar-sounding legislation, easily-muddled procedures, and safety points people get wrong — because that is how a good exam tests understanding.
• Every question ships with a written explanation that teaches the rule or the reasoning, not just the letter of the right answer.

Our questions are original practice questions. They are not copied from any real SIA exam — those assessments are confidential to the awarding organisations, and any site claiming to sell the real questions should be treated with caution. Scoring well here is strong evidence you are ready; it is not a preview of the exact questions you will sit.

How we source the licence facts

The figures in our licence guide — the £204 SIA fee, the three-year licence duration, the minimum age of 18, the application steps, and the renewal rules — are taken from primary sources: the SIA's guidance on GOV.UK and the published awarding-body qualification specifications (for example, the Pearson BTEC Level 2 specification for the unit structure and exam lengths). Where course prices are involved, we give indicative ranges gathered from training-provider listings and say clearly that they are a guide, not a fixed price.

Just as important is what we don't do: where a fact is set per exam version and not published as a single figure — the exam pass marks are a good example — we say so and point you to your training provider, rather than filling the gap with a guess. If a number on this site conflicts with GOV.UK or your awarding body, trust the official source and tell us so we can fix it.

Corrections policy

Rules and fees change — the SIA fee itself rose from £184 to £204 in April 2026 — and we would rather hear about an error twice than miss it once. If you spot anything wrong or out of date, a question or a fact, email info@doorsupervisortests.co.uk or use the contact page, and include the page URL. We review every report, correct confirmed errors, and update the affected page.
